Not much to say about this set of games. The Bears came in 2-0 after scoring 50 runs in their last series. Unfortunately, HYKS is able to throw the leather and the Bears potent offense is held in check. The Bears fell behind early with a few costly errors, both defensively and officially (umpire) and were never able to get back on track.
After giving up 12 runs in the first two innings, and only scoring two themselves, the Bears defense is able to hold the HYKS offense in check giving up only three more runs and hoping that its offense can get in gear. But that was not to be as the Bears only score three more times and fall 15-5.
Cleat gets the loss in his first start of the season but did collect 2 strikeouts, both looking.
Bill comes out for game two and gives up three runs in the first inning, all via a homerun, but again there is no offense. Bill is able to hold the HYKS through the first five innings and the Bears trail 4-1. The defense is playing sharper but the bats are still absent and scoring chance and scoring chance are squandered. The Bears offense showed some signs of life when Jason connected for his first homerun of the season, a 2 run blast to left center field. However, it was all in vain as the Bears fall in the nightcap, 12-3.
MVP and POG awards will be forthcoming.
